Planning Our Historical Narratives
Today grade 5 students began the Prewriting process for their piece of Historical Fiction. Students got to listen to and ask questions of their teacher's prewriting process. Viewing the teacher model of the Gathering Grid students reviewed a couple key points to help them complete their own gathering grids tonight.
- The setting may be a place other than a city. For example: on a space shuttle & the moon, on the ship Titanic.
- Students will most likely use all Internet-based sources tonight to get started.
- Characters do not need to be real people. They can be completely made-up or imaginary.
- The ideas that you write in your Gathering Grid do not need to be the final answer. You may decide to change some details later on in the Writing Process.

- Describe how the characters feel after solving the problem by starting a sentence with, "After it was all over..."
