Electricity
Students in 5C began their inquiry into electricity this week with various provocations.
Watching for electricity to move.
Fifth graders visited a high school physics lab to learn from Profesor Osman. After their visit to the lab students returned to class and made some conclusions together.
New Learning
· Any object can accumulate electricity (if you rub it or move something against it)
· Only conductors (ex. Water, metal {iron} ) can move electricity
· Magnetism uses negative and positive charges
· Electricity is made with protons and electrons when they move
Interesting Facts
· A bolt of electricity can go from the ground up to the clouds
· Electrocution causes your muscles to contract. To be safe – do NOT touch anyone who is or has been electrocuted. Use an insulator.
· Things that do NOT conduct electricity are called INSULATORS
· Human beings can conduct electricity

Let's Experiment!
November 7, 2012
As part of their homework today students in 5C were asked to look for some safe experiments we could do in class. They used books, family members and friends as well as the Internet. Here we have some of the great results that have already been turned in via email.
